Tomato "Fakel": description of the variety

The variety was bred by Moldovan breeders. Suitable for greenhouses, hotbeds. In regions with a warm climate, tomatoes are grown in open beds. Fruits are well stored, transportation is possible. Tomatoes are removed from the branch without the stalk.

Torch is a mid-season high-yielding variety. Determinate bush, moderately spreading, with abundant formation of green mass. An adult plant resembles a torch, expanding upward and narrowing at the roots. The leaf is simple, large, dark green. Tomatoes ripen in clusters of 5-8 fruits. Fruiting lasts all summer, the last tomatoes are tied at the end of August. The yield is high, from 1 sq. m plantings, you can collect 8-10 kg of tomatoes.

Growing features

The Fakel tomato variety is propagated by seedlings. Seeds are treated with a growth stimulator before planting, this significantly improves germination. For seedlings, you need a light soil from a mixture of garden or turf soil with humus. The seeds are planted with a depth of 1.5 cm, sprayed with water and placed in a warm place. For successful germination, a temperature of 23 to 25 degrees is needed.

After emergence, containers with seedlings are exposed to light and the temperature in the room is reduced. Watering is moderate, from a spray bottle or watering can. When the plants unfold the first pair of true leaves, a pick is made. Young tomatoes need to be fed with full complex fertilizer.

Advice: A week before transplanting to a permanent place, the seedlings are hardened by taking them out into the open air.

Plants are transplanted into the greenhouse in the second half of May. The soil is carefully loosened, wood ash or superphosphate is laid out on the holes. Bushes are planted at a distance of 40-50 cm from each other. Row spacing - at least 60 cm. Watering is moderate, as the topsoil dries up. Tomatoes do not require shaping, but you can remove the lower leaves and pinch off the deformed flowers on the brushes.

Plants are fed every 2 weeks. It is recommended to alternate mineral potash complexes with diluted mullein. Foliar top dressing with an aqueous solution of superphosphate is useful. Spraying is carried out after the beginning of flowering, repeating when ovaries form on the lower brushes.

Diseases and pests

Fakel tomatoes are resistant to root or apical rot, late blight, fusarium. For the prevention of viral and fungal diseases, it is recommended to disinfect the soil with a solution of potassium permanganate or copper sulfate. Plantings can be regularly sprayed with phytosporin or another antifungal agent.

Industrial insecticides, extracts of celandine or chamomile, and a solution of laundry soap help to fight insects. When processing, it is important to ensure that the compounds do not fall on the soil. Fakel tomatoes have a pleasant taste and good yield.
